About Tom Holub

DURING HIS CAREER as a Small Business Analyst in the banking industry, Tom had a front row seat to the successes and failures of over 1,000 small business.
One of Tom’s responsibilities was deciding how much money small businesses could borrow from the bank he worked for (CIBC – Voted as the strongest bank in North America and third strongest in the world).
Tom had to carefully analyze each business by using sophisticated ratio based analysis and other methods on a monthly basis. If a business he analyzed reached a reasonable score then, Tom could let it borrow the full amount it applied for during that particular month. If a poor score was calculated then, a lesser amount may have been released to the business.
As time passed, Tom made a remarkable discovery. He realized somewhere between 80% to 90% of the failed businesses he analyzed didn’t survive for one main reason. That was reason was poor marketing. Therefore, approximately 10% to 20% of the business failures he witnessed were due to various factors including incompetent money management, external economic conditions or, the inability to keep up with consumer trends.
On the other hand, the successful businesses he observed, no matter what industry they were in, all used powerful marketing strategies and practices.
It was at this time Tom caught the “Entrepreneur Bug.” In 2006 he was initially attracted to web design and designed websites for himself and friends on a part time basis after work. Eventually, he incorporated other sound marketing practices into the services he offered his customers and, in 2008, decided to go it alone and opened his own company.
Tom offers his customers a unique blend of business acumen gained from his experience at the bank along with proven and effective marketing strategies he has learned through years of trial and error. He lives in Whitby, Ontario, Canada with his family…and pets.

Why you volunteered to join the AMI board of advisers?

I’ve personally seen how good marketing can turn a company around and make it successful. Conversely, I’ve seen how bad marketing (administered by fly by night consultants) can create a situation where a business can easily become insolvent. I’d like to offer the knowledge I’ve gained over the past few decades in order to help businesses realize their potential and to help them navigate the confusing world of marketing technology.
